What a chear greeted Babe Ruth when he once more took his place in right field for the Yankees, especially from the. kids! Here he is, still a little weak, but back at the old stand.

Scenes at the Sanford (N. C) mine whore 71 men lost their lives in an explosion. The upper photo shows the hospital unit rushed to Sanford from Fort Bragg. The hospital tent was set up near the entrance to the mine shaft and white-clad nurses waited to attend the injured. The lower photo shows part of the long line of relatives and friends of the ontombed miners anxiously waiting behind barrier ropes for any nows of their loved ones..

Scopes Did Not Worry.

John T. Scopes did not worry about his trial. He was trind in Dayton, Tenn., on July 10 for teaching evolution, but moanwhile he went in swimming, and did not have to swim alono olther.

They're off on the longest yacht race in history. These throw yachts, and another one not shown, raced 4000 miles from San Francisco to Tahiti," The Shawnee, owned by Mark Fontana, is leading, and the Idalia, owned by Painless Parker, and the Eloise, owned by J. C. Pivver, are just crossing the fine as they leave San Francisc. The fourth boat is L. A. Norris' Mariner..
