Eleven months ago, it has now been revealed, the young Earl of Cardigan, hair to the Marquis of Ailesbury, secretly married at an Isleworth Register Office. Miss Jonn Salter daughter of an architect, a pretty girl whom he met at a dance.
The secret had been so well kept by the four or five people who knew it, that when the bridegroom's mother was told the romantic story she declined to believe it, and the Earl's maid at his lodgings at Oxford, where he is still at College, told an in- quirer that the young Earl was a bachelor add that there was no Lady Cardigan.
The pretty countess, who is 20, is at present living in Middlesex with a friend.
