There was an extremely satisfactory entry for our Missing-Line that the Riffs continue most not- Limerick Competition last week, in point of numbers, but, according to the Judge, the standard of merit was not so high as it might have boan. His report on the first wook's efforts is appended, and we commond his remarks to contestants as a guide for the future.
The uncompleted Limerick for last wook was so follows-
A golfer who had a mean swing,
One golfing ory always would sing; 'Twas "fore" that be'd call

In the opinion of the Judge, two.compotitors tied for the prize, these together with thoir laat linos, being as follows:-

Mr. R. 1. M. Kong, e/o Bank of Canton:-"And 'Faugh' when ho fluffed the fool thing."
The prize of ton dollars is therefore shared by these two compot. itors, five dollars' each having been forwarded them by registered post.

The line required should have scanned:→
Duni Dum Di-di: Dum di-di Düm.
Dum being a long syllable, and di a short one.
There are two sorts of Limericks." The one-syllable rhyme and
the multiple syllable rhyme. Each must scan and I print a sample
of each

"My daughter's inside, dun,
So take her, you dog, if you can.'
The rhyme is questionable, but the scansion perfact.

But returning 'Andante con Moto.'
The last line of this shows the only place where licence is .allowed. For the first long syllable of the line, two short ones are permissable. Is that cloar? All right; don't let's have any more dude, then.
The next step saw the obvious lines, which had no particular point, weaded out"Oh the beautiful course at Fanling." hunts for it still in Fanling." Also profanity. I don't mind myself, but the Editor's a bit young, and I have to think of him.
