YESTERDAY'S ATHLETIC

MEETING.

The Fifth battlion of the Second Punjab Regiment, were favoured with most propitious weather con ditions yesterday afternoon when the annual sports meeting was hold bofore a largo gathering of friends and colleagues. The hillside round the U.S. R. O. ground was thronged with spectators and the regimental band livened up the proceeding | with a number of selections.

Some of the avonte uaw vory close fioishes while others wore run away victories for the winners The Regiment showed that it possesses a very creditable, number of sportsmen and the various races were keenly contested. The meet- ing extended over the whole of the afternoon and tea was sorved throughout. :༔

At the conclusion of the sports the prizes were presented by His Excellency the Governor, (Sir Reginald E, Stubbs) who arrived during the latter portion of the meet- ing accompanied by his secrotary and A. D. C. Shields won by the various Companies during the year! were also presented. Most of the trophies were awarded to the B. Company who carried of the Shooting Shield, the Best All; round Company Shield, and the Sports Trophy. The inter-Company Hockey Shield was won by the Headquarters Company, while the A. Company won the football | shield.

CAMPOS DEFEATED BY HONGKONG CHAMPION. In the final match of the in- terport billiards between the Portuguese colonies of Hongkong and Shangbal, played last Saturday night at the Club Lusitano, Mr. A. J. Osmund, the Hongkong champion, won from Mr. Campos of Shanghai by 500,to 377. Total polata in all matches determined the winning margin, and Shanghai, fortunate in some of the other matches, had a loud of 247, when As this, the last game, began.
