AMAZING CARTER.
BAFFLES BIG AUDIENCE.
A packed house at the Queens' Theatre last evening were baffled for two hours by the series of illusions, following quickly one after another, produced by Carter and bis vory ablò assistant, Miss Evelyn Marwell. The most amazing triok of all was, of course, the sawing of a woman in half, and one can only come to the conclusion that what one gaw was an optical illusion. As the fair lady who subjecte herself to tho "operation" walks amongst the Audience immediately afterwards and is very much alive, it is obvious that the actual sawing' did not take place, and yot one is shown what is purported to bo the two halves of her body with two members of the audience) walking between!

TALENTED PUPILS
Charming Songs,
Another very clever trick con- oerned rings, the property of ladies in the audiencó. The throe ringe, tied on a string hold by two boys, are hammered flat and loaded into an ancient firearm. The weapon is fired at a box which has bean standing at the corner of the stage during the whole por- formance and which everyone is propared to swear has not been touched in any way. Whoa the box is opened it is found to con- tain five other boxes all fitting into each other and locked into the bargain. The smallest opened disclosing two of the rings tied Mr. nsatly to small flowers. Cartar goes on with another triok pouring drink after drink out of an inexhaustible" bottle, finally broaking the bottla and producing] ~ T/T....... a live guinea pig, round the neck of which the third ring is discovered.
Miss Maxwell's mental telepathy exposition is beyond amateur explanation..
The Carter entertainmont will continue at the Queen's for three more days.
