CHOW-TIME-The Maochurian soldiers enjoy eating as much

as their southern brothers. Note the well set-up appearance of Chang Tao-lin's troops, in aliking contrast to the ragged appearance of the defeated soldiers who were recently interned in Sbaoghaj Settlement camps.

SHANGHAI FIREMEN,-"Lo Torrent" No. 2 Company, of the French Fito Brigade, was eslab-. ished on November 7, when, on the call for volunteers, there was an tustant response, many of the mem-,/ bers of the former Volunteer Companies of the International Settlement offering their services. The No. 2 Company was then formed. Hers we have three "olo hands," Mr. W. S. Clay (1st Assistant Foreman), Mr. G. E. O. Mayne (Foreman) in the contre, and Mr. A. C. Mossop (2nd Assistant Foreman).

FOR BRITISH SAILORS.-B.W.A. Headquarters at Shanghal was the scene of a large and enjoyable gathering on January 22, when the Recreation Committee, under the Chairmanship of Mrs. A. K. Craddock, organized a dance for men of the British warships in port. Seated in the middle of the group are Mrs. E. M. Oull, Chaliman of the B.W.A., Lady Skinner Turner, Mrs, O. H. Silt, Mro. C. J. F.
