It is understood that the handing over of the German callways to a new company under the Dawes scheme has been tentatively fixed for October 9th. This does not apply to the regic, which will be handed over two months later.-Reuter.

PRINCE OF WALES AT WASHINGTON.
Washington, Aug. 31. Immenso cheering crowds greeted the Prince of Wales on the occasion of his visit this afternoon. He drove triumphally to the White House, where he was welcomed by President and Mrs. Coolidge. Introductions were carried out by Mr. Hughes, who then left the Prince to his hosts with whom he lunched and remained a couple of hours. The Prince departed for Long Island, later in the afternoon. In a message to the people ha reminded them of the holiday nature of his visit and expressed delight at the cordial reception given him.-Renter.
