THEREAS it is expedient to amend "The Hongkong Emi- gration Ordinance, 1870": Be it enacted by the Governor
of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-
Title.
Preamble.
I. This Ordinance may be cited for all Purposes as "The Short Title. Hongkong Emigration Ordinance, 1873."
II. Section II of "The Hongkong Emigration Ordinance, Repealing 1870," is hereby repealed.
Clause.
I. In the Construction of the said Ordinance and of this Interpretation Ordinance, the Expression "Chinese Passenger Ship" shall include Clause. every Ship carrying from any Port in Hongkong, and every British Ship carrying from any Port in China, or within a Hun- dred Miles of the Coast thereof, more than Twenty Passengers being Natives of Asia, on a Voyage of more than Seven Days' Duration within the Meaning of "The Chinese Passengers' Act, 1855," and of Section III of Ordinance No. 9 of 1866.
IV. The Provisions of Sections IV and V of "The Hongkong application for Emigration Ordinance 1870," relating to the Time and Mode of Exemption Application for a License, and to the Punishment for furnishing under Section untruc Particulars, shall apply to Applieutions for an Exemption 1 of No. 4 of
1870.
from the Operation of the said Ordinance under Section XI thereof; and if it shall appear to the Satisfaction of the Glover- nor in Council at any Time before the Departure of a Chinese Passenger Ship that any of the Particulars so furnished are untrue it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council to revoke and cancel the Exemption, and in every such Case, the Revoration of said Ship may be seized and detained by the Emigration Officer Exemption in until her Emigration Papers (if already granted) shall have been errtalu Cases. delivered up.
V. The Breach of any Condition of a License granted under Breach of The Hongkong Emigration Ordinance, 1870," shall be deemed Conditions of a Breach of a Regulation respecting Chinese Passenger Ships License. within the Meaning of Section II of "The Chinese Passengers' Act, 1855."

VII. Nothing in this Ordinauce contained shall be deemed Ordinance not to affect Chinese Passenger Ships to which the Provisions of to apply to "The Chinese Passengers Ordinauce, 1871" apply.
