There is nothing in this document, or in any contemporaneous correspondence, to show that the Indian Government expected to be remunerated by this Government for the cost of maintaining Convicts from ... ANKA CLA ... any far this Colony as I can learn, any claim made in that behalf until Governor Sir John Ord, in 1878, moved your Lordship to direct the attention of this Government to what was considered an outstanding debt.
