HONGKONG TELEGRAPH MOTORING SUPPLEMENT. SATURDAY, APRIL 12, 1924.

HOW TO GET GOOD SERVICE FROM

MICHELIN TYRES

Keep tyres pumped up to correct pressure for

the load they have to carry, what this should be.

We can tell you

When fyres are under inflated there is con- linual internal friction between the fɔ in lati on cord and the rubber, causing overheating of the tyre and consequent rapid deterioration.

Water can also enter causing rust, resulting eventually in the rims having sharp edges which cut the walls of the tyre near the bead.

Most cars in Hongkong run on under inflated

tyres with the above disastrous results.

Have your wheels examined front and rear for frueness and, tracking alignment. If they are at fault in this respect the tread of the cover is subject to a grinding action which quickly destroys the cover.

Keep tyres free from oil and grease.

Start and stop gently and take corners, slowly.

Lastly-buy MICHELIN tyres from us and follow, the

above advice and tyre satisfaction is assured.

SULPHITE SPIRIT AS MOTOR FUEL.

A Stockholm message says that the Sveriges Industrifoerbund in a letter to the Ministry of Com merce emphasises the necessity of finding a solution of the pro- blem of using sulphite spirit as motor fuel in order to keep tho sulphite mills running, and to improve the commercial balance of the country by the exploitation of waste products of the timber and pulp industrios. Tae Foorbund proposes the imposition of higher impurl duties on bonzine and the introduction of other measuros for the purpose of obliging con- sumers to use at least à niixture of benzino and spirit.--Reußer.
