Engineer and Surveyor to the Corporation of Leeds; on the termination of the same, I was appointed as an assistant in the same office, and which I retained for three years and a half. I was then promoted by the Town Council to the post of "Principal Assistant," and which situation I held for about four years. Afterwards I was selected to fill the responsible situation of Resident Engineer in the works connected with the Extension of Leeds Corporation Waterworks in "The valley of the River Washburn," under Messrs. Hawksley and Bateman, and which situation I now hold.

I have had, I may be permitted to say, unusual opportunities of becoming acquainted with the duties and qualifications for the post I now seek, having been engaged upon other works—the following among them:

The laying out, sewering, and paving of streets, the erection of markets, Police Stations, and other Municipal buildings, the construction of pumping stations and reservoirs, and the laying of mains connected with the waterworks.

Since receiving my present appointment, my duties have been the Superintending and carrying out of the works for the Symeirs and Corporation, the drawing up of reports and estimates, and the auditing of Accounts.

I have great pleasure in referring for further testimonials, not only...
