London, April 1
In the House of Commons the Government's intention to carry out the Labour policy of no secret treaties was announced by Mr. Ponsonby, in moving the reading of the Treaty of Peace With Turkey Bill
He urged the passage of the Bill so as to allow ratification the treaty without delay. The Government desired a renewal of normal Anglo-Turkish relations as early as possible. Government intended to lay avery treaty, when signed, on the table of both Houses 21 days before ratification. Publication of important treaties would be discussed if desired, and thus secret treaties would be im- -possible. (Ministerial cheers). The Government would also inform -the House of all' agreements and understandings which may in any
way bind the nation to specific action in certain circumstances..
Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, replying to criticisms of the Turkish Treaty, declared that there was much therein with which everybody disagreed, but it must be ratified, otherwise there was not going to be an end of the state of war. He stated that the Dominions and India had agreed to ratification. The debate was adjourned until next week.
