Considering that they had had time to learn from the other Constables the general outlines of the Service, I explained and read out the principal Rules, Regulations, and local Ordinances that affected them and their duties.
7. I unhesitatingly state
that I read out the Points
on enrolling - Medical inspection, and further that I added
Some Comments rendered
desirable, from the Contagious Disease Ordinance being in
force in this Colony. I also told
them that I should be always happy to see any of them in
my office, should they have Complaints to make or desire advice on any point.

On the 16 March the printed book of Regulations was given to them. The similarity of the majority of these regulations to those of the London Police is apparent.
