that the last Examination was conducted in a rough, and to the men, unpleasant manner on various occasions.

20. The task was distasteful to me, more so than any previous one. In order to enable this report to arrive at a conclusion, as to the necessity or otherwise of this Examination, I append a Table of the men sent to Capital Punishment from this Inspection since January.

21. As it is desired that this report should be placed in the hands of the Governor as soon as possible, I have written it as briefly as possible.

22. Independently, however, of the above, I must express my conviction that PC 118 Brially will be a source of trouble as long as he remains in the Force; and that it is doubtful whether any good can result from the employment of PC. 20 Power, 57 Waway, 111 Corcoran, and 123 Costello.
