The first attack ch the stability the rentenmark, which has considerably improved economic conditions in Germany was made by Doctor Luther, the Finance Minister, why at a meeting of the board of the Rentenbank requested that it grant the Government bredit additional to the 1200 millions already granted. Dr. Luther declared that it was only a question of a short period credit which would not affect inflation.

The Board rejected the request fearing that farther credits to the Government weald undermine faith in the rentenmark.

In view of the refusal Dr. Luther has to obtain money by issuing | Exchequer short-term bills in rentenmarks to banks and agricultural and industrial concerns.—Reuter.
