No 4 of 1893.

I annexe the usual detailed Statement of the Supplementary Estimates, which are, I hope, drawn up in accordance with the last Instructions, and to them is added the Statement of the Revenue and Comparative Statement of the past year, and also a Comparative Statement for 1891 and 1872.

Those Returns disclose, as I had contemplated, a satisfactory financial condition. The Revenue of the past year exceeded that of 1871 by $80,889.41, while the Expenditure decreased to the extent of $58,611.25.

Enclosure No 3

The estimated Assets for 1st January, 1873, amounted to $89,113.16, but owing to some cause and another, the actual Assets were $181,942.00, of which about $20,000 of Copper Coinage must be considered as unavailable.

The Revenue excess is to be attributed to the Actual Revenue being $924,807.26 against Estimated $896,510 (shortfall $28,297.26 having been $48,297.26 blinded), while the Expenditure was less by $40,743.11 (Actual $820,697.29 against Estimated $861,400).

Having regard to the requirements of the Colony - the public improvements which might be taken in hand at the time.
