NOVEMBER 17.
MARRIED HIS SISTER
Gipsy Kidnapping Revealed by Chance.
St. Louis: Legally wed under the laws of the State of Missouri, A.E. Cattler lived happily with his wife.
~Then, to their horror, they discovered they were brother and sister.
The story was told when an action for divorce was haard in the court at Rolla, Missouri.
When only four years old, Mra, Kattler was kidnapped by gypsies. [She grew up in the belief that
these people ware har parents.
Twelve years later Kattler was farming in Nebraska. Not far from him was a gypsy farmer] named Hopkins, who had a "daughter," Bessia. Kattles learn-1 ed that Bessie was not well treated by her father, and he endeavoured to protect her. A romance sprang up and their marriage followed when Kattler was 25 and the girl Jonly 16
Achance meeting with Kattler's father, who had separated from his wife, led to the discovery.
The marriage has been annulled.
