INTERPORT TRIAL This match (Blues v. Whites) played on the Club ground attracted only a fair number of spectators, the Club stand being about half filled. A good number of Chinese lined the ropes.

After a delay of ten minutes, the Whites started with ten men only, Sells, of the Diomede, being absent, and Jones of the King's, coming on the field to complete the side after about five minutes, play. The teams were fairly evenly matched, and although the Whites claimed a two goals | lead at the finish, there was not that difference in the play. The Whites forwards showed the greater dash from the start and in the opening minute the Blues goal had a narrow escape, the ball, from a ground shot by Simp- son, striking the upright with Swan at the other end. The play was fairly fast, but not good. Each side had a turn of attacking. but the old fault cropped in ie., individual play, and several chances went begging through the forwards hanging on to the ball when tackled.

The Whites opened the score through McKelvie, who beat Swan with a slow shot, the ball just clearing the upright on its way to the net. The Blues had a couple of chances to level up but Kirby on each occasion lifted the ball over the bar. Offside play by the Blues centre spoilt a good opening and the Whites going down. Forsyth put them further ahead when he caught the ball from a weak clearance and returned it into the net giving Swan no chance. Halftime Whites, 2: Blues, D.
