3. Entered the service in Hong Kong as a Volunteer, 28 October 1867.

4. Allowance approved as a China Student, 2 December 1867.

5. Appointed Inspector of Buildings, 23 May 1868, at £190 per annum.

6. Appointed Clerk of Works in the City Hall, with approval of H.E. The Governor, at £125 per annum, 1 June 1869.

7. Salary raised to £475 per annum as Inspector of Buildings, and Valuator and District Surveyor, 1 March 1870.

8. Left the City Hall on completion of contract, 4 March 1870.

10. To remain in suspension in China, 12 March 1872. Ceased to be a Valuator.

Present Salary as Inspector of Buildings and Assistant Engineer, £320 per annum in all, 31 December 1872.
