A conference of parties last night reached an agreement on the thorny question of the eight hours'-day on the basis of the Wirth Cabinet's formula of 1922, which provided that ex- ceptions to the eight-hours"-day could be made for the purpose of increasing production in certain specified sccupations. Stresemann to-day announced the names of twelve Cabinet Ministers, including himself for Foreign Affairs and Luther for Finance, the latter re placing the Socialist Hilferding, the demand for whose resignation by Stressmann's party was one of the causes of the Government's fall. The new Cabinet is a coalition of Socialists, Democrats, Cen- trists and the Peoples' Party.

A message from Duesseldorf reports that General Degonite bas conferred with Herr Stinnes and three of the mining magnates as regards conditions of resumption of work in the Ruhr and provision for resumption of the reparations deliveries.
Before conferring with General Degpatte, Herr Stinnes conversed with Von Krupp in prison. The decision to approach the occupation authorities was taken at a meeting of industrialists on 30th September and subsequently approved by Herr Stresemann.

New York, Oct. 6. Oxing to an anti-Lloyd George demonstration at the City Hall, additional police were urgently requisitioned. The ex-Frem e drove through Broadway in a motor car decked with British flags and was heart ly cheered throughout. Replying to an add ess of welcome, Mr. Lloyd George explained that his visit had no oficial status. He ro- garded it as the reward of years of struggle in the cause of the people.
