Experiments are still going on at the US. Bureau of Standards Lo! make the static eliminator effi cient enough for practical use.

Better receiving, as well as transmilling, instruments live! have already tempered down it- mospheric interference consider- ably. The static eliminator, or some other such invention, would abolish this altogether.

Local interference from other hroideasting, or individual trans- mitting stations has been. per- hap even more serious than static. Radio fans living near a powerful broadcasting station have had considerable difficulty trying to tune out its, interfer- ence, for some distant programme. One of the many steps to eliminate this form of interfor once is the now system of wave length allocation, by which broad- casters send out their programmes on different wave lengths. De spite this system, however, re- coiving radio fans still experience this form of interference.

The broadcasters themselvés) have been trying to clear the air of this trouble, and have succeeded to some extent. But they have still far to go before they will stop interfering with one another.
