I am hardly yet in a position to state how frequently and in what amounts future instalments should be forwarded, as the quantity already ordered has not arrived with any regularity, as will be seen by the enclosed Return.

It is advisable, therefore, that the manufacturers should be requested to say whether they can supply the Subsidiary Coins required at regular intervals - say at the rate of £5000 per mensem, and if they can do so, an order to that effect should, I think, be given.

The Coins which have been received went into circulation in less than a week from the date of their arrival, and the market is again wholly without such supplies. The inconvenience of this state of affairs is daily increasing, and it would be well, therefore, to obtain such quantity of the Coins as will bring down the current to their actual value. – I have to ascertain what becomes of the
