The Canton leader, writer, more than once in the article under notice used the word "cement" in ila figurative score.
It so happens that "Cements" have been very much in the air recently in Hong kong and the warring elements in a short stretch of our public the roughfare have been engaged in a struggle of "bcare" and "bulls"

Russian Refugees.
The warning in the Telegraph yesterday anent the threatened Russian "invasion" of Hongkong, has come none too noon. The fact is that this "invasion" appears to have being going on for some months now in a subtle, silent back-door sort of way, and the tide has been gradually rising. I wonder if the authorties could tell us exactly how many Russiane, and more particulár- ly Russian women have entered this colony during the last six months? I doubt it, and I vonture to think they would be "surprised if the correct number were known. There are too many tales going around concerning the conduct of certain Russian women just now living in Kow- toon. I have seen the resulta of the Russian ́“invasion” in Tientsin and Shanghai, and I trust that, for Hongkong's sakė, the authorities are keeping ■ sharp look-out.,
