ET. Arnold, of Armand Build- ings, Kowloon, brought an action against Lo Yao-sap, of 43. Des Voeux Road, Hongkong, for $335.- 54, being balance of salary due from May 29th to July 19th. Plaintiff's salary was fixed at $300 a month, and he claimed $520 loss cortain advances" "amounting to. $184,46, leaving a balance of $335.54.

Defendant did not appear, nel ther was he legally represented. Mr. O'Sullivan, a Court official, said he understood that defendant had instructed solicitors to appear on big behalf. Mr. O'Sullivan was told by the Pulsne Judge to tolophone them. He did so, but the solicitors in question were not at their office.

Mr. Arnold told the Court that ho was engaged by defendant at the end of May to erect certain mint machinery at Amoy and to take charge of some docks. Mr. Arnold thanked the British Consul for his advice and told him he would report the matter to the defendant. "If he will call on me," said the Consul, "I will tell him the same as I have told you-and more," he added.
