CLEANING METAL LACES.

Many women are dubious about attempting to clean the gold and silver laces and trimmings which are still so fashionable. Gold face should first be brushed to remove all dust, then powdered alum should be gently rabbed to. After a few hours brush the alum away; probably you will find that the tarnish will have vanished. If, however, the trimming has been very much neglected the operation may have to be repent- ed. Silver Isco in best cleaned with finely powdered magnesia rubbed into the material after a preliminary brushing and brushed dut after a few hours.
