If the Colony is to be limited in its jurisdiction in this matter, Cape d'Aquilar, the South Point of the island offers the greatest advantages for the erection of a light-house.

A fine aerial light from this point would be seen in clear weather at a distance of 22 miles by vessels approaching Hongkong from the North East; and from the South East, with the exception of that part shaded by the small island of Son Koong.

It would also light the East Lamma Channel and a portion of the Lema Channel as shown on the Admiralty Chart.

As shown by the accompanying chart, a Sixth order light on the South side of the Kyeemoon Pass would complete the lighting of the Eastern entrance to Hong Kong.

A Fourth Order light at the extremity of Tytane Rock would light up the remainder of the Lema Channel, and would also light the East Lamma Channel.

A fourth order light on Green Island would light the West Lamma Channel.

These two lights would complete the Western entrance...
