Date and Cocoanut Toffee.
Required 341b. of loaf or granulated sugar, I gill of milk 11⁄2 lb. of dates, 2 tablespoonfuls of golden syrup 14 lb. of desiccated coccanut, 2oz. of butter almond
essence.
Stone the dates and, cut them batter and dates into a pan and small. Put the sugar, milk, syrup, stir over the fire until the mixture forms a soft ball, when a little is dropped into cold water and then rolled between the thumb and fio- ger. Remove from the fire, add the cocoanut and flavouring, and pour into greassed or oiled lips, Mark with a knife into squares and break
