Providing for the Salary of the Governor or Acting Governor under certain circumstances, and also for the purchase of furniture for Government House.
Having consulted my Executive Council, I have delayed, pending further instructions, taking action in this matter. In arranging the question of what proportion of the Salary is to be drawn by the officer temporarily administering the Government and a newly appointed Governor is settled by the Secretary of State.
And in reference to providing furniture for Government House, the Officer administering the Government is bound by the Colonial Regulations, which have been supplemented by instructions conveyed in various Despatches from Your Lordship's Department. Hence, I beg to submit that it is not necessary or advisable that the existing arrangements should, at any rate for the present, be disturbed.
I have the honour to be,
My Lord,
Your Lordship's most obedient
humble Servant,
[illegible]
Governor.
