At the meeting, said Mr. Katewall, the importance of a vice-Chairman to act for the Chairman during the latter's absence was pointed out and Sir Robert Ho Tung was appointed. Messrs D. K. Blair and T. N. Chau were appointed Joint Secretaries. The decision resched at the meeting was that Hongkong participate in the Exhibition. In deference to the wish of the Chinese Chamber, he went into: certain details in connection with the Exhibition at the meeting. and would later ask Mr. T. N. Chau to inform the Committee of the result. However, he would like to mention the most im portant question, which was about the site for Hongkong. Two sites were available, one of them with an area of some 90,000 square feet and the other 100,000 square feet. The larger of the two sites Was considered suitable by Mr. Chat- bam, a former Director of the Hoogkong Public Works Depart- meat; but it was felt that it would be lather excessive, it being nearly as large as the space taken by the Government of India and mueb the New Zealand larger then
