Before the meeting of the Executive Council, he made an
offer to Ray
rental
if
an increased monthly
the lease
were extended
to three or five years, viz. for the
2nd
year $11,000 per mensem, and for
the 3rd
Year
$11,500 per
mensem.
This tender, which was much
higher than the privilege had
hitherto produced, was
accepted by
the Council, as the other persons tendering had not even
for one year tendered so much as Li Tak Cheong
was
willing to give for the first year
of the term for which he
applied. I trust that Your Lordship
will
approve of this arrangement which I apprehend is within Your
