The meeting, presided over by Mr. Asquith last evening, passed a resolution that co-operation in the lobby and constituencies should precede the establishment of formal machinery for reunion. Mr. Asquith said that unless parliamentary co-operation was preliminarily guaranteed, he did not see the use of appointing a consultative committee of leaders of both groups.
At a subsequent meeting of National Liberals. Mr. Lloyd George said co-operation was impossible without a consultative committee.
