RUHR OCCUPATION.

Paris, March 21.

A message from Coblence states that the Inter-Allied High Commission has ordered one hundred and eighty-four fresh expul sions of officials and suspended twenty-one German newspapers in. the occupied territory in addition to the eighty-two previously dealt with. The Commission has decided to press enquiries into the attack on Editor Smeers and withdraw the, matter from the jurisdiction of the German authorities in view of its relation to the safety of the occupied territory. The Commission is considering the establishment of a special military tribunal similar to those instituted in Upper Silesia.

GERMANY'S ENORMOUS BUDGET DEFICIT.

Berlin, March 21.

The representative of the Ministry of Finance announced in the Reichsrat that the budget for 1922 sawed à deficit of 7,100 more than was milliards of paper marks, or 6.200 millas estimated last autumn. He said this was the result of the depre- ciation of the mark and the occupation of the Ruhr, which had driven the budget into billions and forced expenditure to a height against which the Government was helpless. The Government's financial programme had been torn to shreds.

BRITISH ISLAND RULED BY JAPANESE.

LAUSANNE TREATY.

London, March 21. The chief Japanese representative at the later Allied Conference. which is opening in London today to consider the Turkish counter proposals to the draft of the Lausanne Treaty, will be Baron Hayashi. He will be assisted by Mr. Nagaoka, Minister to Czecho Slovakia, Mr. Satau, Counsellor of the Embassy at Paris and Mr. Nishizawa, Secretary of the Embassy in London.
