Sections II and I contain Provisions taken from Ordinance 10 of 1867, S. 70 (and the Imperial Contagious Diseases Act), which are specially applicable to the office of a Sheriff in this Colony and will protect him against vexatious proceedings in case

The Ordinance then provides for the payment of Sheriff's

Sheriff and the Government will be avoided (See Section II). Where the duty to be performed requires authority in writing which can be stamped, the Sheriff must file a stamped Voucher (See Section VIII and Form in 2nd Schedule).

The Sheriff's Disbursements by way of costs can still be paid to him in money (See Section XIX.). The Scale of Stamp Duties is taken from the Scale of Sheriff's Fees contained in Schedule No 9 of the General Order of the Supreme Court of the 1st of March 1847. (See Mr. List is Index).
