FIRM'S ACTION AGAINST KELANTAN GOVERNMENT.
London, Jan. 17.
An interesting court appeal has been dismissed. The appeal was from the judgment of Mr. Justice Russell in an action brought byl the Dan Development Company against the Government of Kelantan, The Master of the Rolls said the Court was bound to accept the statement of the Secretary for the Colonies that Kelantan was a sovereign state. although it raised considerable doubts in regard to the limits of the sovereign's power. He very gravely doubted whether this Sultan had any real say in the matter. It seen.ed to him that the only resalt the jurisdiction of a of the submission of a foreign sovereign to British Court was that he must submit to such orders only as were necessary to enable the Court to come to a proper conclusion, but he had not submitted his property or person to any order for exccution. He suggested that the whole subject might be reviewed in a place where there was power to review it
The action in question was brought by the Duff Development Company against the Kelantan Goverriment for litigation coats totalling 15.637.)
