"Another betting-by- cheque decision, which involves thou- sands of pounds in racing bets, was given on October 13th. in the High Court by Bir Francis Newbolt, K.C., the official referee. He held that the recent Gaming Act. preventing the bringing of actions for the recovery of betting debts paid by cheque, did not apply to cases begun before the passing of the Act.
