"Ia two years' time Liverpool' will have at the north sid the finest docks in the world and the best and biggest graving dock in the world, capable of CCOM- modating the 70,000 tons American stips, if, and when they are built, and we shall have sODN- thing superior to moything in existence, under construction, and, so far as we know, authoris ed anywhere," said Mr. Richard D. Holt, chairman of the Works Committee of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board. Mr. Holt, in
the proceedings of the Works Committee, which included a minute to purchase a second-band' Locomotive, said it completed the purchase of locomotive necessary" for getting on with the work of excavating the Gladstone Docks. He was also glad to be able to tell the Board that he was assured by the Engineer that the work bad gone on very well during the 'summer, and was more than up to date. He would take the opportunity of reminding the Board that in two years' time they would have at the north end the finest docks in the world,/ the best and biggest graving dock in the world, capable of accommodating the 70,000 tons American ships, if and whoit they were built, shd something superior to anything in existence, under construction, or so'fit is- they know, authorised anywhere
