It is probable that during the six months of rainy season, the Pokfulam Reservoir, by being from time to time filled up by storms, could yield the whole of the quantity required for daily supply to each person at only 115 Gallons, which is a very limited allowance, the amount required daily will be 1,600,000 Gallons.

During the remaining six months of the year, it would probably supply about 494,000 Gallons daily.

We have therefore to provide additional impounding during these six dry months for 1,106,000 (1,600,000 - 494,000) being the difference between the supply required and that which could be obtained from the Pokfulam Reservoir.

This quantity is nearly 1,106,000 Gallons daily, and to impound this quantity, a Reservoir would be required nearly twice the size of the present one.

The existing Pipe conveying the supply from Pokfulam into Town is of a diameter of only 10 inches, and is capable of conveying a quantity of water not exceeding 100,000 Gallons daily, which is far below the required amount.
