The report of the Labour delegation's interview on 21st ult. shows that Mr. Lloyd George contended that the Government's policy was essentially Labour's peace policy, laid down by the party in 1918 The Government was taking the only method of preventing war spreading to Europe, for if the Turks crossed in their present massaering mood and massacres occurred, the whole infernal trouble would recommIE PACE. The Government would urge at the conference that the key to the Straits be in the picket of the League of Nations.
Questioned the Premier said the freedom of the Straits meant that they should be just like any other international water- way, free to the vessels of any ration to pass to and fro the Black Sea, and remain neutral in wartime. The League would have to decide whether fortifications were necessary.
