COBALT MAGNET STEEL A new material, called cobalt magnet steel, has been invaated Tha inventor
P. R. is Mr. Kueherich, of the Cobalt Steel Company, and the characteristic of his metal is its excellence as a material for making magnets. Cobalt is a tough, reddish-white and lustrous mental. It is mined in Canada, and was first com mercially used in Germany in 1931. Mr. Kuehnrich bas pro- duced a steel which contains 15 per cent of cobalt, which bas been found enormously superior to tungsten steel for the making of the magnet, which is the heart of the magneto-the vital part of the Internal combustion engine. By the use of cobal

steel tungsten magnetos can be made less than- half the present size and give the same respits. "The co-t of magneto depends largely on the size of the magnet," said Mr. J F. Kayser, managing director of the Cobalt Steel Company. ** Ceball
