CHINA'S RECOVERY.
London. May 27. With the reservation that the re-organisation of a great seun- try like 'China: is difficult and large resulta cannot be expected in mediately, a long article is giving prominence in the Times. 1: presents a hopeful, picture of China's recovery, and concludes. "Let the new Government show practical capacity and foreign Gov- ernments, through the Consortium, will supply whatever money is deemed essential.” Commenting editorialy, the Times says that British industry has the strongest reasons for turning attention to the trade potentialities of China and points out that despite deplor able domestic conditions, China's foreign trade has persistently ex- panded, thus promising indefinite extension with settled conditions and improved communications. "Desirable results seem mire pos- sible than at any time since the revolution, for a doer of deed- has arisen who fears no foe. 1f Wu's judgment equals his valer, we hope for a speedy improvement in the great land wherein he is an outstanding figure."
