FISH TAKES SHIPY LOG. During Toyage of the R.M.S.P. 1.8. Orduns from New York to Southampton. & curious event happened which caused moch excitement and interess among both passengers and crew, The ship's log had disappeared! The ship's officers attribute the cause of this to its having been bitten adrift by some large speci- men of fisb, and the incident is looked upon as an omen of good fortune, although no reason for this is given. Strangely enough, the Orduas experienced a similar happening about eighteen months ago, on a voyage hom Puntà Arenas to Coronel.

C.P. FLEET..
A New York message in Canadian papere states that ar rangements for securing traffic for the big addition to the Canadian Pacific fleet were made at the convention of the Canadian Pacific Railway traffic officers which was concluded on February 4. Passenger agents and other officials from practically every simportant centre in Canada and the United 8tates attended the meeting. Now steamships with an aggregate tonnage of 130,000 are to be added to the fleet. Competition between ocean lines. is now very keen and Canadian Pacific Railway men considered plans for securing their share of the business. One feature will be the affing of closer connec. tion between the rail and steam- ship service as outlined atthe cop.. vention which will faclude & now. fortnightly service to the Far East from Vancouver and Victoria in addition to the present sailings of the Empress of Russia and Empress of Asis. The new steamships will be the Empress of Canada and the Emprees of Australia On the Eastbound trip the two new steamers will, it ›is raid, probably call at Honolulu..
