Storm King in tow found it necessary on account of rough seas from the N.W., to heave-to; both vessels lying in the trough of the sen. As the sea was breaking over the vessel and endangering the after deck load of baled cordwood, two bags of oil were floated to windward, after which Do further trouble was exper- ienced. On December 11, 1921, in (approximately) lat. 28° 44′ F. loug. 45 52-W, the a. Lord Lon- don-derry, on the yoyage from Belfast toward Tampa, encoun tered a whole gale from south with squalls of hurricane force with continuous heavy rain.
