Solly a Govt Officer,
the grant of this leave would be very questionable. But he is only paid £200 per annum for the work he performs for the Government. I think I would refer him to Sir R. Martin, stating that if Sir R. M. States that this leave is absolutely necessary for the recovery of Mr Sharif's Health, and that there is a fair prospect that Mr Sharif will be able to return to Hongkong at the expiration
will not object to of his leave, Lord Kimberley grant him this further extension, without Half Salary.
The Estimates for 1873 still place his Salary at £250 which has been pronounced to be inadequate. I apprehend that the temporary arrangement to which Mr Sharpe refers
