I had the honor to receive a Letter from You on the 25th of April last, in which by direction of Lord Kimberley you stated that his Lordship's leave of absence would be extended for four months beyond the six months then already granted upon the understanding that if I should be compelled to request permission to remain absent from Hongkong after the 18th of November next, I should after that date cease to draw any salary.
On the ... of the same month, I acknowledged the receipt of your Communication and respectfully thanked his Lordship for the extension of leave.
