Gossip on the Coming Meeting.
The annual races of the Hong- kong Jockey Club are axed for February 20th (Monday), and the allowing two days and Saturday. Training is under way and out- side of the owpers and riders in- terest was whetted long since by the many Derby sweeps being con- ducted by the Clubs. Entries for the races closed on Saturday last, and Messrs. Noronha & Co., the printers, are busy producing the handsome race books that serve us every year. It seems that far the 19 meeting there are con- siderably fewer ponics taking part than there were last year. In all 129 ponies have been entered, as compared with 156"last year. Of the 129, there аге Ε Larsen grilhas, 20 ordinary grithms and ST eld ponies. There Are 51 stables represented, as against 58 last year. The owners include six ladies, vie, Mrs. Bell Irving, Lady Chater. Mrs. Forsyth. Mrs. Hart- ford, Mrs. Montague Ede and Mrs. Birkett. Last year there were live.
