HOSIERY FACTORIES, According to the A Shih Pco, the native hostery business is finding a good market in Canton, so much so that imported goods have almost disappeared. The factories are reported to number more than a thousand, with nearly 20,000 workers. Most of the firms are situated in the vicinity of the Sikwan or West Gate, and the most prominent firms are. Yung Yeh, Ta Tung, Ming Yeb, Cheng. Tang, Ya Sin, Cheng Hwa, Hui Kung Li Hus, Kung Sin, Kwang Hing Sin. Most of the factories, bowever, are still using hand- made machines. The exceptions number only ten firms, which have, from a manufacturing point of view kapt abreast of the tistes.
