At a meeting of the Cardiff and Bristol Channel Shipowners' As- sociation a long discussion took place in connection with the new Argentina regulations, and it was decided to communicate with the Chamber of Shipping, the faders- tion pointing out the utter im- practicability of the regulations, and asking that they should take the matter up with the Foreign Office. In the course of discus- sion it was intimated that the Argentine Consul at Cardiff had informed them that it would take Itwo days in which to pass a crew
list, and that he would require for that period the assistance of a broker's clerk. It was further pointed out that it was practically impossible to obtain police certi- ficates to character of seamen, many of whom were foreigners. It was also mentioned that the regulations ware not clear as to whether they were operative for vessels arriving in the Argen- tine or leaving the United King- dom from January 1st. nari.
