The international character of | Shanghai trade has resulted in the wracking of many sttempts to form associations of merchants for handling particular lines of goods. This association was formed among stockholders of reinforcing steel bars to control the liquida tion, of the stocks beld in | Shanghai. Besides this, a number of newly- established firms had imported stocks of reinforcing bars in the belief that there was a profitable outlet in China.
