In Pauncefote I have spoken on Mr Smale's pension (but not on the subject of his successor) the Clubs will be glad to accept those terms. If he will accept theirs, the matter will be well disposed of. If he demurs, we may very well offer him the further temptation of the amount of his half-pay up to date paid in advance.
