A Reuter cable day states that the Ellerman and Bucknig Steamship Coy.'s new spring service between Liverpool and the Far East will be inaugurated by the City of Manchester which to Pare Liverpool on December The City of Manchester will le followed, a month later, by a new steamer, the City of Simla. To intending baneward pas- sengers, however, the date of the City of Manchester's departure from Hoogkong on the bomeward journer 15 of most consequence. The date provisionally fixed is February 20.
The City of Manchester is not, of course, & new steamer. She was formerly on the Indian ron, bat several new vessels have been or are being built for that run and the older vessels are being releas ed. The Sunning, which, as stated here yesterday, put back to port yesterday owing to the sudden indisposition of Captain Wavell had only gone about s dozen miles from Hongkong when the captain was taken unexpected- ly ill. On arrival at Hongkong Captain Wavell transferred to the Peak Hospital, but the nature of his indisposition has not yet been determined.
